CAMERA OBSCURA
Camera obscurers have been used for along time. It is a revolutionary piece of engineering that was the basic philosophy of a camera technically speaking. Camera obscurers have been used by many famous artists the most famous was "Vermeer (1632-1675)". He painted very detailed paintings like: "The music lesson (painted around 1662/1665)". Basically the way the obscurer would be used is they would point the lens at the object/subject and look into the box and trace around the image.
my camera obscurer was very easy to make. I used simple every day objects. They were a kitchen roll tube, tin foil ,grease proof paper, and duck tape. I made this camera obscurer by getting my kitchen roll and putting grease proof paper over the top of it then I secured it with duck tape. Then I put tin foil on top and secured that with more duck tape. and then using a needle I poked a really tiny hole into the tin foil and not the grease proof paper. Your camera obscurer is done you can look through and see the world in a new light.
Abelarado Morell
Albelarado morrell is a photographer from Boston represented by Edwynn Houk Gallery which is in New York. Albelarado uses whole rooms as his camera obscurer. He does this by closing off all light sources in the room apart from a hole the size of a coin he captures the overlaying image by using a long exposure on his camera. The end result is really nice as you are left with the image from outside overlaying the inside of the room.
